IV Therapy is an intravenous source of fluids containing a base of normal saline with addition to other vitamins, electrolytes, and/or amino acids. This form of hydration assists with quick delivery of fluids, medications, and nutrients to optimize recovery, performance, and immunity. Most IVs are placed in the left or right arm with a small needle/catheter. Approximately 1L of fluid will be infused over 45 minutes to an hour. This procedure does require a needle insertion and can often cause a small amount of bleeding and bruising at the point of insertion. For the general public, a medical evaluation is not needed prior to IV insertion.
